Overactive thyroid and low libido

Can an overactive thyroid problem cause a decrease in libido ?

Generally it is reported that overactive thyroid will increase libido but there are a couple of sites saying hyperthyroidism can decrease libido. I think libido is likely to decrease when you feel unwell whatever the cause.
