Could I ask if anyone in the group suffers from malabsorption? How was it diagnosed and treated for you...many thanks in advance.xx

I would say malabsorption is a common symptom of hypothyroidism. It is caused (as far as I know) at least partly by lower levels of stomach acid preventing food being broken down properly so the body can't extract nutrients from food.

The fact that low levels of minerals and vitamins are rife in the hypothyroid people on this forum when they first join is indicative of it being a very common problem indeed.

Oh, and as far as I know it isn't really treated unless levels are way under the reference range, and then only as much as is needed to get levels into the reference range and no more.
