Good afternoon,
Does anyone know what a safe dose of Milk Thisle is please? I am taking quite a high dose but really could do with more.
Thank you
why are you taking milk thistle?
When the meds/suppliements start killing of the Candida, it produces toxins in the body that the liver has to deal with, it can make you very ill indeed without liver supports. It is to do with yeast and sugar amongst lots of other things, it seems.
Are you using tablets from a high street retailer? Perhaps a better quality tincture might help? I use Neal's Yard products, which I've found to be almost as good as prescribed herbal medicines.

Hello Leverette,
The one I am taking is a better quality and high strengh, I certainly notice when I haven't had it, so it seems to be very good. I am guessing I have lots of toxicins in the body (judging by how bad I feel) Can I ask what dose you take?
ps My herbalist friend told me to eat bitter herbs, on the "nasty medicine works better" principle. This is supposed to make digestion & the liver work more efficiently by getting the gall bladder to produce more bile. I like to eat watercress & rocket for this purpose, & get lots of vitamin C, too.
It is great to hear you are well, it brings hope to us all.
Great! I will increase my Rocket and watercress intake.
I have recently started having freshly squeezed lemon juice in warm water with Ginger, and just ordered some strange sounding herbal loose tea that are good for the immune system.
Thank you Leverette - much appreciated : >
Thank you! I wish I could fix my joints!
I can't eat ginger. Despite it's miraculous properties, it seems to do the opposite of what it's supposed to do.
I hope your tea is tasty!
Mel
Morning Leverette,
I think the herbal teas will take some getting used to : <
Sorry you have painful joints - hope you find something to help - have you tried a Tens Machine?
It sounds like ginger does to you what Thyroid meds do to me : <
Best wishes
Debs
Morning Debs!
I hope it's not too nasty. My friend gave me some wonder herb from Brazil, but I only got as far as one sip, as it tasted so bad.
I've turned my TENS machine into an electro-acupuncture machine, & needle myself. It's especially good for sciatica, which the TENS pads didn't really help.
Perhaps try a different brand of NDT? I had a dreadful reaction to Thyro-Gold, but WP is fine, & so is T3.
Mel
Hello Mel,
Thats good thinking with the TENS machine, I must admit I didn't find my one helpful, it also had a massage setting but
i never found that helpful either.
I have tried a few differen't thyroid meds, WP was actually really dreadful for me, so was T3, Nutri Thyroid and normal T4, the best success is with liquid T4 but i can only take a very small dose once a week - I do have my theories as to why this is but sadly it doesn't help me : <
Oh, no!
Have you had your relevant nutrient levels checked, to see if that improves tolerance? Surely someone on here must be able to help!

Sadly not, I am trying to get well almost without medication, but for some reason things have gone wrong.
I do have an an appointment with the doctor in a few weeks about something that is worrying me but I suspect I will get the normal specch - "it's all to do with your Thyroid and we have done our bit by providing Thyroxine" :< - I will be more assertive this time, as I am suffering so much.
Have you been checked for Lyme disease, & T. gondii? It's not good if you're trying to fix the wrong thing.
I've seen some info re treatment with topical iodine. perhaps that might help up your thyroid hormones.

I used to take it, but don't think I need it any more. I think I took 15mls of tincture from an organic herbalists. I used to use a lot of their products to help my immune system, which has been weak since I was in my teens. NDT seems to have sorted this out, by raising my body temperature, as I've only been ill once last winter, instead of all year. All I take now is elderberry syrup or tincture with lemon in my morning green tea, & I make that myself.
