Hormone resistance and under active help please
You previously commented "Yes we got the genetic testing done through a private endo
". Resistance to thyroid hormone is usually due to a mutation in either the thyroid hormone receptor beta-1 gene or very rarely the alpha-1 gene. In about 20% of cases (if I remember the correct percentage) no mutation is found. However, a private endo is not in a position to diagnose resistance to thyroid hormone, it is a very complex condition that requires specialist testing that goes beyond a genetic test. In the UK this is carried out at Addenbrookes Hospital and the patient has to be referred by an endocrinologist (not a GP).
However, if she has high thyroid hormone levels and clear signs of hypothyroidism it would be necessary to go by signs and symptoms rather than the blood tests.
Looking at some of her results it is possible that she is not taking her thyroid hormone medication regularly. This would be an explanation. I'm not saying this is happening, it's just a possibility. If this is not the case I'd suggest they increase her levothyroxine until her fT4 is near the top of its reference interval and then see what the TSH is. This will give a clue to what is happening.
