Hashimoto's Hormone treatment

I know this might seem like a stupid question but if someone had Hashimoto's antibodies and a goitre and had an active bout of hyperthyroidism which lasted several years and is now within normal limits but has Hypothyroid symptoms which hormones should an endocrinologist prescribe and why? Thank you for your help,

Wennieflower,

Endo will treat on blood levels not symptoms.  If your blood levels show you are hyperthyroid Carbimazole is the anti-thyroid drug treatment.  If blood levels show you are hypothyroid Levothyroxine hormone replacement is prescribed.

Hashimoto's may cause transient hyperthyroidism but as the thyroid gland becomes damaged and atrophies hypothyroidism develops.
