Well it might, But its still a low dose. After taking it for 6 weeks, insist on a test, free t4 and tsh to see if you need an increase..... You are looking to get the tsh under 1 and the free t4 in the top end, or just over range?
DonT take your meds on the morning of the test, take them after the test, donT eat and get the test as early as possible....

It should help but it is a very small dose. When I was diagnosed my doctor sent me to Manchester University to be tested. I had a Radioactive Iodine test. It takes 3 hours but the beauty of this test is it tells them exactly what dosage of thyroxine you need. It is probably very expensive as well. This particular doctor was an orthopaedic surgeon & he wanted to make sure of what he was treating me for so I had to undergo a lot of blood tests, Over a period of days I was taken to the hospital by ambulance, because I kept collapsing, they took eight vials of blood each time I went. It was so much that I had to miss a day between each round of blood tests In the end I needed 175mcg. I don't know if they still do that test, mine was 30 years ago, but it wouldn't hurt to ask.
I was on 100mcgs for 20 years. Neck came up i asked for an extra 25 even though doctor said it wouldnt help. Neck went down, although doctor says this was a coincidence!!! I don't think i'm coverting T4 to T3 properly though but i need to try and get gp to look into this as at the moment she just smiles like i have no idea what im talking about!
No, SHE has no idea what you're talking about. They Don't know anything about thyroid, and I bet she would have no idea how to tell if you're converting. Anyway, you would need an FT3 test for that, and she probably won't do it - they think it's irrelevant. So, best to get private tests and sort yourself out!
Might depend on whether you've reached your full-replacement dose. The full-replacement dose for T4-only is 1.7mcg/kg body weight. 100mcg is for a body weight of ~59kg. If you are now over your T4 full-replacement dose and aren't getting a benefit, you probably need T3. Although if you are in the UK, your NHS doc is unlikely to give you T3 ... you might consider self-treatment.
