Fertility is a problem with hypothyroidism unless your levels get to an optimum. Fertility and female problems can be rife for man with hypo.

I shall give you a couple of archived links:-

Yes I know under dosing is a prob. I was on right dose but still with all symptoms. On ditching meds I conceived after 8 years..then lost it.

If the doctor tells you you are now fine because your hormones are 'in range' we assume that we are on the proper dose but that doesn't mean we are on an optimum dose particularly if we still have any symptoms.

Also miscarriages are quite frequent too, and I'm sorry you lost the baby.

This is a very good link and I think you'll find it helpful.

Dorcas70, I've not heard that Levothyroxine affects fertility adversely. It improves thyroid hormone levels which aids fertility. High TSH can cause difficulty in conception and miscarriage in pregnancy. NICE recommends the TSH of women trying to conceive and newly pregnant should be in the low-normal range 0.4-2.0. Levothyroxine dose is usually increased by 25-50mcg when pregnancy is confirmed to ensure good foetal development.
