Just ordered thyroidgold

Hi I've just orders thyroidgold as I'm not getting anywhere with my gp over orders 150mg 90 tablets I'm on 100mcg of Levo at the moment , what I want to know is will 150mcg of gold be the same dose as 100 Levo ? I think that's what I worked it out as can anyone advise me please on the dose and how to take it . Many thanks Claire x

Hi mum, I think there are a few people who have said they used ThyroGold. I knew of it many years ago and thought you needed about ten times as much as porcine as a replacement but maybe that has changed. Do you not want to order NDT, I think it's cheaper.

Did you order it from Tammy's website? If not, maybe you can find some answers here if no one responds.

Are you in the UK? If so, ask people to PM you (per regulations here). There are several brands from various places.

If you email Tammy at thyroid gold she will give you the dose equivalents. Her email address is on the thyroid gold website. I know that 300mg is about equivalent to 3 grains of NDT. I dont think 150mg will be the same as 100 mg levo. I think 150 mg would be too small a dose but Tammy can tell you.

Hi I'm on thyrogold and order from Tammy. As far as I recall 150mg thyrogold is equivalent to 50mg Levothyroxine. I'm on 2x 300mgs of thyrogold daily. Wishing you all the best on thyrogold. It's certainly helped me

When it was first launched: At that time there was only 300mcg and some found it stronger and split the capsule. Capsules are now available in 150mcg too. Dr Lowe replied to a customer see (first answer):-

An explanation:-

THYROGOLD, called a “dietary supplement”, though patients report it working very well. Was created by the now-deceased John C. Lowe, and his wife currently sells it. Comes in 150 mg and 300 mg tablets. The mgs is NOT equivalent to the same mgs in prescription NDT tablets. i.e. 150 mg may be “similar in effect” to 1 1/4 grains, but that’s a subjective opinion by some. The thyroid powder in the tablets are from New Zealand pasture-fed cows, plus there is 25 mg of Coleus forskohlii, which is said to promote thyroid function. It is a popular OTC product!
