Hi there. I wonder if any if you might help me interpret my blood results please? These are the first results I've seen and need an informed opinion before docs in a couple of weeks. I've since been on quite a high dose of propranalol and carbimazole. Thanks!
Blood results- help please!?: Hi there. I wonder... - Thyroid UK
Blood results- help please!?
I am hypothyroid so cannot help. Someone who is or has been hyper will do so.
Luna999, FT4 and FT3 were considerably over range which means you were hyperthyroid. Carbimazole is an anti-thyroid drug which reduces production of thyroid hormones. The target will be to get your FT4 <22, FT3 <6.8 and TSH higher. You should have blood tests every 4-6 weeks while you are taking Carbimazole as dose will require adjustment if thyroid levels are too low, making you hypothyroid, or too high, meaning dose is insufficient.

Hi concur with Clutter apart from target is to get your TSH higher, you are positive for TRab antibodies, which suppress your TSH regardless of your free hormone levels and any doctor trying to get your TSH up is to be avoided. Guidelines state you should be titrated to your FT3 result.
Get blood tests fortnightly, it's easy to overshoot on CBZ and propranolol. CBZ also lowers antibodies and betablockers protect your heart and slow down T4 to T3 conversion.
As you are positive for TRab you have Graves disease, which is an autoimmune disease. The culprit is your immune system and the victim is currently your thyroid .... but Graves can also affect eye tissue, and for some weird reason the tissue on your shins.
Elaine Moore's Graves disease website would be a good resource for you ....
Good luck
