That's really interesting. OK, it's a small study (15 patients), but they claim that 7 (48%) of them required no medication following the procedure is quite a success. Would be interested to see more details.
What I don't get is how could this LLLT reduce TPOAb? I get that it's stimulating re-growth of Thyroid tissue, but what could it be doing to alter the immune system? I always thought Autoimmune Thyroiditis happens when the immune system malfunctions & starts to attack a healthy Thyroid. If what they claim here is true, maybe the Thyroid goes wrong first & starts producing cells that the immune system doesn't like, so when the LLLT stimulates growth of healthy Thyroid tissue (which the Immune system sees as normal), TPOAb is reduced???
Would be fantastic if true. Quick procedure to regrow a healthy Thyroid & ditch the medication..... So as long as the procedure doesn't cost more than £1.50, we'll see it on the NHS within 30 years
