Hi folks - since we read on here a little while ago that folic acid is no substitute for folate we have decided to make this change and so purchased Solgar folate as 1000 mcg. GP prescribes 5 mg folic acid but we have no idea how this translates to the amount of folate required. Thanks

Angelaat27, people with methylation impairment will often do better on methylfolate than folic acid but methlfolate isn't better for everyone and some don't do at all well on it. 5mg folic acid was fine for me.
5mg = 5,000mcg so an equivalent dose is 5 x 1,000mcg Solgar.
