Does hashimotos also lower the basal temperature or is it a symptom only for hypothyroidism ?

Susi, Symptoms can precede abnormal bloods by years so I think it's likely a Hashimoto's patient with euthyroid bloods may also have low basal temperature.

Thank you Clutter. The reason I am trying to understand is that on my last blood test the THS and t4 were normal (1.10 and 13.6 ) but the anti-body was at borderline 99 ( 0.00-99.00). I had stoped taking NDT because I think the dosage was wrong and making me ill , and started taking supplements and adrenal.Felt much better. Dr P says to keep on checking the temperature. Even though it seems to be a bit higher now with the adrenals, still not were it should be. But it seems the with Hashimoto's people can get it into remission and even stop taking medication , only with supplements and right nutrition, but with Hypothyroid it doesnt seem to be this way. My doctor said I can only do another blood test in a year, because of my results, and privately is so expensive . Still trying my best to learn how to deal with it .

Susi, People can have high antibodies without being hypothyroid. They are likely, not 100% guaranteed, to become hypothyroid but it can take years/decades. Lifestyle and diet changes can help reduce, and sometimes, eradicate Hashi antibodies.

Bear in mind a 'normal' temperature is statistical average. Some people will have slightly lower/higher temperatures. If adrenal supplementation has raised temperature the fact it remains low may not be due to thyroid.

TSH 1.10 and FT4 13.6 is normal, FT4 a little low, not unduly low, but if NDT made you feel worse it may have been too high a dose, the brand didn't suit, or you didn't need it then.

Thyroid levels change very slowly and generally there won't be much fluctuation in 12 months. Blue Horizon does a comprehensive thyroid panel for £79 after the TUK discount if you don't want to wait a year.
