Low cortisol results : Hi can anyone help I have... - Thyroid UK
Low cortisol results
Hi, I had low cortisol levels (low adrenals) for many years. GPs and even endos scratched their heads in utter confusion & went round in circles. The other day I was told by endo he was signing me off as I was "cured" !! My synacthan test for cortisol was over 800 whereas it had been as low as 38 in the past. All I've done to get it up is to increase my thyroid medication - in my case T3 as I can't tolerate T4. Also take supplements - B12, D3, folate & ferritin. After all the f...ing about for decades, the answer was easy in my case. Are you on thyroid meds? I would say try increasing them very slowly yourself and have another cortisol test after about 6 months. Good luck
No not on thyroid meds as my endo said that I was normal/borderline!!she kind of dismissed me as having nothing wrong with me and told me that if I lose weight half of my symphoms would disappear!!shr said if anything came up she would contact me to see me again Sooner as she booked me back in for 2nd November!!i kind of feel like I hop she is eating her own words now as it has shown I have low cortisol levels!!but will they b right if it was taken at 1130am?
Cortisol level test should be done as soon after 8am as possible. I suggest you ask for a print out of your thyroid test results and post them on here to see what others say about them. You're possibly within the 'range' for NHS/NICE but still hypo. Good luck
I have my thyroid results 1.1 range 0.35-5 tsh and 11.8 range 11-23 they don't do t3 my next text will be October just before I see the endo again
Suggest you get Vit D, B12, folate and Ferratin blood tests - privately if need be
