Ellenm-2, The risk to the foetus from Carbimazole is small, far less than untreated hyperthyroidism, but Carbimazole can cross the placenta barrier so there is a tiny risk the baby may be hypothyroid. A heel prick thyroid test routinely done on newborns before discharge will show whether the baby is hypothyroid.

If you intend breastfeeding it may be better to switch to Propylthiouracil (PTU) as Carbimazole will be in breast milk.

I hope you have an easy labour and delivery (well as easy as they can be if you get my drift).
