My wife has a tsh count of 592.what is the recommended medicine and future steps for us

Hi I would get her to a doctor ASAP that is far too high. See if they will give her natural thyroid hormone to start as it contains T3 and they normally stick to T4 only. If they won't then try to ensure she gets a combination of T3 and T4

If it really is 592, then it is essential that at least Free T4 is measured BEFORE giving any thyroid hormone. That high a result could be due to a TSHoma rather than low thyroid hormone levels. Or interference with the test from antibodies to TSH.

I wonder if there is a missing decimal point? Could it actually be 59.2 (still very high), or 5.92 (slightly high)?

592. is VERY high - your wife must be feeling dreadful. Check that the surgery have given the correct results and her TSH is actually 5.92 which again is high enough for her dr. to be considering medication.

Mine was 102, at the thyroid UK Conference I asked Dr Midgely if that was very high ,I think he said he had seen results around 130. I suspect an error in your wife's results .

You need to check urgently.
