Susie, people often have hypo bloods but feel hyper particularly when they try to raise dose and it can be on any thyroid meds, not just T3. Low ferritin/iron is a common reason but there are others. The link below explains some.
And don't forget unmanaged Hashimotos can make you feel hyper and hypo at the same time. Have you had antibodies test?
It is possible to be hypo and hyper at the same time if the available hormone isn't distributed evenly. Some cellls have too much hormone and some have too little if the receptors have been shut down due to long-term un/Under-treated hypo.
Thanks Greygoose ,how do you sort it ?
You find your optimal dose with the aid of blood tests. The tests tell you what's available in the blood, not what's in the cells, so you know if you need an increase. Once you get enough T3 in your system to get those receptors working again, things will even out. But this has to happen slowly. There's no quick fix.
Thankyou.
I really do not understand why i feel hyper on a lower dose of t3 ( to what I was taking in thyroxine and t3)only now.its as though there is a big wall blocking something and something is leaking into my system making me so ill.It is a feeling in my entire body 24 hours a day. What I am scared about is that something else is wrong with me ,but had all sorts of test which are normal and gp and endo do not think it is thyroid at all.It feels no matter what I try I just cannot get well.
