I have ordered a RVT3 test from Genova. I live in Frinton on Sea in Essex. Anyone out there know who I can get to draw the blood for me? Thanks

I once asked our senior nurse at our surgery whether she would be able to draw the blood for me if I needed to order a postal blood test at some time and she said that she would be able to do that ....so maybe it's worth you asking at your surgery too.

Phone up one of your local NHS hospitals and ask for the phlebotomy department. Ask if they would take blood for you for a private blood test. Explain that you will have all the necessary tubes and instructions and you will be taking the blood away with you. Expect to pay a fee of around £10. It might be less. I was charged just over £7 but that was a couple of years ago, I paid in cash, and I didn't even have to give my name.

You could always ask your surgery. Always explain that you will have the kit and instructions, and that you are willing to pay, if the fee isn't too much. (Others may disagree with this advice and suggest just making an appointment and keeping your fingers crossed - but I'd be worried about being landed with a big unexpected charge if I wasn't honest up front.)

Genova offer phlebotomy services for a fee, but they may be very inconvenient for you :

I have no idea what the charges are.

You could also phone up a local private hospital and ask if they would offer the service. Check the fee first!
