My level of vit.d is 14 and my endocrinologist said that i should drink 3 drops daily of vit.d minimum three months. She said that my deficit of vit.d is related with thyroid. What is yours opinions?

Best wishes to all...

I'm booked in on Tuesday to have parathyroid testing, because my vit D is 26.. I've just got to grips with hypothyroidism & now this.. I don't even have the ooomf to learn about it right now.. Information overload!!

Hi Rudegirl,

how is your calcium level ? My Vit D was 22 last year and I was hoping for the parathyroid test but my Doctor or the lab. did not do it so I can only think it was because my calcium was in range.

You may need to start with large loading doses - so ask your Doc. Then you need to dose according to the chart in the top link....

Goodness me that is very LOW. Are you going to ask for loading doses. If not start supplementing immediately - the gels are not expensive. You will need at least 5000IU's daily and they are not expensive to buy OTC. Important to take VitK2 with the D as D improves the production of calcium and K2 ensures it goes to the right places :-) Do you take Magnesium and Zinc as well - if not then a GOOD Multi-Vit may give you the levels you need....

When i was diagnosed with Hashimoto, my vit. d was also at 14, i got it to optimal levels by taking 2,000 mgs per day, for 3 months. The 10,000mgs didn't work. Anyway, it did nothing for my symptoms.

Hi,

My vit d level was 12. I was given 4 x 800 iu a day for 3 months. No calcium or parathyroid was tested. The symptoms I had relieved were a constant pain/ache in my right arm and the plantar fasciitis went. Generally it no longer hurt to get up and move about.

This was fine whilst supplementing, now I can forget to take it for a few days and sypmtoms return, I don't think I'm holding on to it.

I hope you have a better experience
