Hi all. I have high cholesterol since having thyroid removed and would like to know if anybody has experience of improving cholesterol levels by increasing levo dose (irrespective of bloods). Thanks in advance for all TT /cholesterol related stories. Louisa

TT and high cholesterol
Superb_lulu, cholesterol usually improves with a dose increase when a person has been undermedcated. If you post your recent thyroid results with the lab ref ranges (the figures in brackets after your results) members will advise whether you are optimally medicated.
Was only able to get my cholesterol down by adding t3. Levo even at high doses did not speed up my metabolism enough to lose weight or lower cholesterol.
I had high cholesterol having had a TT, things only got better when I took T3 (Liothyronine).
I had TT in 2000 and have had high cholesterol since. I think you have to weigh up whether you wish to slighly increase your dosage and possibly bring your levels down, against having a little more than you need and risking bone health. Its a dilemma alright!! Rock and hard place come to mind!
My cholesterol went sky high and i have got it down with oats in a morning made with oaty milk . But don't try it in hot drinks as it curdles.
