Graves and menopause
I have Graves and am now 51, I am going through the perimenopause. so in my case, no it has not made it earlier.
I was diagnosed by gp as being menopause at 46 funny though because blood test was normal and gp said oh we go on symptoms because hormone levels go up and down so depends when you have bloods done funny because when my tsh kept coming back within range they did use the same principle
I now think I probably wasn't meno pause at all as hrt she gave me didn't help symptoms but they quite happily gave it to me for 3 years untill my graves was diagnosed I even had one gp say your to young for menopause as she handed me prescription
I was 45 when I started feeling ill. Doctor said it was early menopause although tests came back negative. I put all my symptoms down to the menopause and just got on with it. Asking other people how they were and they all said you poor old thing you have got it bad. At the age of 48 symtoms got so bad I saw my GP again, more tests. I went back nearly every month as I felt so ill, I lost two and a half stone. Then one day I walked in the surgery and she said I know what the problem is by looking at your eyes. She done another thyroid blood test which confirmed I had graves. My level was at 86. I was 49 when I finally found out, four years I thought it was the menopause. It's amazing what you put up with.
Hi jake123, I was 44 was very regular then didn't have a period for 6 months. Then no more. I was diagnosed with graves at 47. I had had it for some years as I could pin things back in time, like the dental medication wearing off within an hour and having double vision. By the time I was diagnosed I was completely through the menopause
Hasn't for me as have had Graves since I was 45 and ten years later I am still in the peri-meno.
