Just wondering whether those on here who are self mediating and feeling better have informed their G.P of such, and what the responses were?
Self medication: Just wondering whether those on... - Thyroid UK
Self medication
I do a mixture of self-medicating and what is prescribed/suggested by the private doctor I see. My GP knows what I take - or at least he's probably around 6 months behind, but we did a full review at the beginning of the year. I like what I take to be in my records.
His response? "Nothing you are taking gives me cause for concern."
i could care less what my nhs gp thinks or knows i am taking after their negilgence over the last decade.
It is maddening, I agree!
I have told my gp, but for my own benefit more than anything really (although I do feel better that what I'm taking is on my records). I'm glad I did, as he now runs my thyroid tests, and I don't have to pay for them!
My NHS GP Refused to treat me for any condition unless I stopped taking the NDT and started taking the Levo that he wanted me to take! I was trying to get fertility treatment at the time so I gave into the Blackmail but oh it's hard when I know how much better I feel on any other thyroid treatment than Levo.
Not my GP, no, but my osteopath. He thoroughly approved of what I was doing because he knows what idiots GPs are. lol
I just tell my GP and it's non negotiable!
What do you recommend for self medicating? I want to increase my dosage. I take 75mcg a day and was thinking of making 2 days a week 100mcg. I have no thyroid due to cancer and my T4 is 14 and TSH 1
