Has she tried reducing her dose down slightly to see if cough disappears. She could be allergic to fillers/binders in her medication.
If she can get a copy of her most recent blood test results for her thyroid gland (you just ask receptionist for a copy) with the ranges and post so that members can comment on them. Also what medication and dose is she taking. We are entitled to copies of our blood tests and some surgeries ask for a nominal sum to cover paper costs etc. My surgery doesn't charge.
Hi I agree. It might be worth her asking for a thyroid ultra sound. The thyroid could be swollen or/and have nodules.

The increased medication activates the processes within the thyroid gland. Every gland produces mucous in effort to detox itself. The cough is the way the body evacuates the mucous. Here would be useful a combination of herbs which turns the thick mucous into liquid which the body easily eliminates from the gland and the throat. The cough and the hoarse voice disappear .
Another reason for cough can be acid reflux. The acid irritates the throat.
Inflammation around the thyroid is also a real possibility but I don't know why an increase of hormone would cause that.
There is a blood pressure medication whose side effect is chronic coughing.
Definitely worth a trip to the doctors. One of our friends had something really serious when he had a cough that wouldn't go away. Thankfully it is all clear now, but you can't always assume that everything is down to the thyroid.
I used to cough and clear my throat a lot until I had a goiter removed
I Have a cough that appears every now and then at night - it is acid reflux in my case, but might be worth looking into, in case higher or newer meds are affecting the bile or acids in your body??
