Just read the book 'The iodine crisis', by Lynne Farrow, and found it a convincing argument for including iodine in our diet.
But. I tried the iodine for a few weeks, but found it kinda tipped me over into a hyperthyroid state. - I just became very unwell! Although not officially diagnosed with any thyroid disorder (I suspect possibly Hashimotos), I'm now coming across posts on how iodine may make things worse, esp. for those with hashis.
Anyone try iodine? If so, how did you get on with it?

BrecklandRanger, there seem to be mixed views about iodine. I've seen it recommended to reduce TSH in patients with high normal TSH but not on Levothyroxine and some members have reported benefits. Sorry it didn't work for you.
Hi, I have Hashimotos and I'm doing fine with iodine, but I think it's important that you take selenium with it and I was in a pretty good place before I started.
Yes, contradictory advice on iodine. You should do a urine test first, which is probably the only way to know if you are deficient. If you google halides, it will explain the problem we have with fluoride and bromide usurping iodine receptors.
