I have become allergic to everything. I initially was dealing with cleaning mould and started getting allergic to medications. I saw an allergist who injected me with a steroid and i had an anaphylactoid reaction to it. I got sicker and sicker and was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism. Am getting more allergic by the day with bright red palms and chest. I tested positive to mould and am currently being tested for mastocytosis, lyme and carcinoid syndrome. Daily feel awful shaking breathless bone and muscle pain. Whatever this is its awful. If I go anywhere near things like insect killer or incense my throat swells and i have a raspy voice, dizziness, breathless, palpitations, nausea etc. Also bring on extreme pain in my shoulders arms wrists and back. Don't know if it's thyroid related or not

I haven't had any chest infections. I was in so much pain 2 days ago that i saw the doctor and got a chest X ray but all normal. I am a smoker and that doesn't bother me but other pollutants do to the point that it can take a couple of hours for the reaction to wear off. My daughter had to use topical bactroban a couple of weeks ago and that gave me a huge reaction

Hi Jen

Yes that's me. My allergies started after my first child was born. I love scented flowers but, react badly. My worse nightmare is getting into a bus when people wearing different scents. i cough and choke runny nose the lot.

though I try to avoid most things, yet grow a lot of lilies. There are some which are not scented but it's not the same.

I've had problems with perfumed things since I was a child - sneezing, coughing etc and what I would smell would be different to other people. There was a popular perfume in the 90s that smelt like tobacco smoke to me :-s I developed hay fever in my late teens & psoriasis in my early twenties so my nose & skin are quite sensitive now.

Yes, I do. I can't stand lots of smells - I become breathless, dizzy and nauseous! Even silly things like a different deodorant or shower gel makes me yuck. I don't understand it. I can't even tolerate my hubby using aftershave sometimes! I absolutely can't stand any artificial air freshner. Extreme reaction to any type. Xx

I know I react environmentally because my eyes start to hurt! It's embarrassing and very confining. It never happens outside, and less so if it's a large room (although a church or theatre with ladies in front and on either side can be trying). I think that strengthening one's immune system is a good way to go, and also perhaps to check on candidiasis overgrowth. Once one 'takes a hit' like you have, Jen, the thing is to somehow reduce the causes of stress - any kind, physical, emotional, environmental, food related - whatever you can - and strengthen your immune system however it seems helpful, and of course to get the likely additional causes checked, which you're doing although I didn't see candidiasis as one of yours? It can be mould related so it's a likely suspect (and diet would help - avoid sugars for a start -) Hope this helps a little.

Jen me too, am getting worse as I age, have fallen out with a local chat group when it became known I was allergic to perfumes, a nightmare with some elderly people who lather themselves in the stuff, some were sympathetic, others not, had to leave after a nasty confrontation from a member who resented not being able to use her favourite perfume and was told in no uncertain terms she would not be leaving her handcream off! Travelling on bus a hit and miss affair too, often have to move to another seat, cannot walk through the pot pourri departments and could not contemplate a coach holiday, my life is becoming quite difficult. On the fibromyalgia uk website they list allergies as a common symptom and some believe there is a connection between the thyroid and fibromyalgia. I have been concentrating on healing my gut for some time including making my own kefir to increase good bacteria, but as yet I am not finding any improvements, sigh...

Hi Joyia, I must say, it never ceases to amaze me how awful some people can be. Good riddance to the woman with her hand cream. I bet she wouldn't eat nuts if a member of her family was allergic to them. Problem with thyroid disease, fibromyalgia and allergies is that because we don't look sick, nobody understands that we are. I had a huge reaction to hair dye my mum was using but she carried on walking around the house and told me I would just have to sit in the garden. It was 40 degrees out there which wasn't great for a racing pulse and trouble breathing. As I say, nobody understands. We went to a restaurant last night and there must have been mould in the air conditioning as I had another nasty reaction. My daughters friend stayed over and I had to get them both to shower and wash their hair whilst I washed the clothes we had worn as the reaction wouldn't stop until it was off us all. How awful, but they are teens and very understanding. I hate the inconvenience I put everyone through. Sometimes wonder if it was best I wasn't here anymore. Depressing!

I did a mould test and tested positive to trichothecene T2 mould. I got tested for candida which was negative. I can't even go to malls anymore as the perfumes trigger a huge reaction unless the malls aren't busy and aren't spraying perfumes everywhere. This is driving me nuts. I have a daughter. She was 7 when i got sick. I had to stop working, driving and taking her out to any indoor entertainment places malls, cinemas etc. Nobody has an answer how to stop this and get my health back.

Yes, ever since they took Eltroxin off the market and gave us generic Mercury Pharma Levo. Went onto Wockhardt in February 2014 and have not noticed much improvement yet. Cannot bear to be near bleach and cannot now have my hair coloured. Struggling with nail varnish, but my perfume seems to be alright (Clinique). Some shampoos also. Janet.

Did wonder if it a reaction to some of the excipients in our meds reacting with common everyday products, hence my reaction to hair colour. Janet.

I am that way as well. My mom and daughter have the same reaction. I used to work in a dental office and you know that those rooms can be confining. Several times I had to tell my boss that I couldn't stay in the room. I ended up having to put cotton rolls up my nose so I couldn't smell it. :) We even had a policy of no perfume, but of course people ignored it. I have gotten so sensitive to smells now sometimes I have to empty the garbage at home a couple of times a day or I get really nauseous. Shopping and conferences are the worst, because I can't control my environment.
