Dr says I am hypothyroidism but I cant gain weight. I thought with hypo u would gain weight.

Goldiedi, it is more common to find weight gain in hypothyroid people but there are a good few of us on this forum who have lost weight or find it difficult to maintain weight.

I've been advised to eat frequent small meals, Complan and protein shakes. Can't actually abide the latter so I drink milk and eat chocolate caramel eggs

I also cut my thyroid pill in half.started taking whole pill again could that be the reason for my weakness and it feels like my blood pressure falls. Checked blood pressure and its ok. Sometimes I feel tired weak and clammy. I am on high blood pressure meds.Im 61 years young thank u

Goldiedi, cutting your pill in half will mean you are under medicated and this can cause as many symptoms as over medication. When did you start taking Levothyroxine and what dose are you on?

50 for several years . Then my dr was out seen his substitute and she changed me to100mg. They r oval yellow ones thank u

Where are you, goldiedi? All UK levothyroxine tablets are round and white.

Goldiedi, the substitute doc must have thought you were very under medicated. Make sure you have a follow up blood test six to eight weeks after your dose was increased to check that you aren't over medicated. Try and see the substitute doc if you can.

Hi,

Iv also an underactive thyroid and never been able to gain weight. Dont know why but i have most of the other symotoms that people mention. Do you have any other medical condition that could affect digestion .. i have crohns disease and thought thus could be a factor that effects my weight.

Was told that my blood pressure fall now it is high. It had something to do with my autonomic nerves system
