Most people do best when they split their dose into two or three times daily due to the short life of the T3. You'll need to experiment to see what timings suit you best.

Ok thanks!! I told my doctor/nurse that I cud "feel" my med wer off nd they said that wasn't possible!! Bt guess im living proof!! It does!! I guess I'm trying 30 mg in morn before bfast and 15mg at 5:00 pm. Hoping it works ok!! I'm so ready to be happy-go-lucky again!

They're wrong. You can feel the T3 wearing off. Usually you feel a slump in energy or even palpitations. I was happily taking all my T4+T3 in one morning dose but endo advised me to split the T3 because of its short life. I'm actually trying T4+20mcg morning, 10mcg afternoon and 10mcg at night.

This is advice from Dr Lowe and I am doing fine on once a day dosing.

Dr. Lowe: As a rule, our patients take thyroid hormone only once per day. An advantage of this one-per-day schedule is that it’s easier to find a window for good intestinal absorption—when the stomach or small intestine doesn’t contain food.

I am exasperated by all I hear on this complaint. Question is simple.... is it safe to take eltroxin or not ?

And are there any alternative treatments out there i.e. Acupuncture etc. ?
