Yes, many are sensitive to T3. Try cutting the tablet in half and take 12.5mcg for a week and if you are tolerating it well you can then increase to 2 x 12.5mcg or 1 x 25mcg.
If you have never taken T3 before then taking a whole pill all in one go would probably make you feel pretty bad. You need to cut them in half or quarters, and build up slowly.
Many people will cut a pill up and take it in three, four or five doses throughout the day. Some people take it all at once. It is a very individual thing, and you will need to experiment - cautiously!
If you are suffering at the moment, just tell yourself it won't last long... T3 wears off pretty quickly.
That's equivalent to one grain of Armour or 100 mcg of levothyroxine. Are you used to those doses? If you are not able to utilize that much T3 due to faulty cortisol or closed receptors, or whatever blocks thyroid hormone, you may have to ease into straight T3.
25mcg in one go if you've never taken it before is too much, it would be better to start really, really slowly, a quarter tablet a day. I had problems to start with but your body gets used to it after a few weeks and then you can add a tiny bit more. I'm now taking 25 at 5.30 plus a quarter at 11.30, another quarter at 5.30 m and half at 11.30 pm. But it took about 6 months to get up to that level. And I have weaned myself completely off the Levo.
I even put a tiny bit T3 on my tongue a week later, the same thing happened, felt really dizzy , heart racing, to be honest I didn't like the way it made me feel. .I would be scared to take it again, I might be allergic to it.
Thanks for your reply, but in a way it's because of my Gp I ordered from Mexico, he won't test for T3, and only prescribes me Levothyroxine.
How much Levo were you taking? 25mcg T3 is equivalent to 75mcg. You're unlikely to be allergic to thyroid hormone which is naturally occurring but it is possible to be allergic to the fillers, although they're probably the same as those in Levothyroxine.
I take 50mg of Levothyroxine, I have been on them for 6 years now..But I promise you I have never felt so frightened after taking T3..It took a few days for the weird effect it had on me...But as I mentioned earlier , I tried a tiny bit of it on my tongue and the same thing happened, instant dizziness, heart racing, so for me T3 is a no no.. But as I said , my GP wont do any other testing , only the minimum that the NHS dictates. .
T3 doesn't suit everyone. If you're having symptoms on 50mcg T4 perhaps you need to increase the dose instead of trying T3 or have you looked into Nutri Adrenal or Nutri Adrenal Extra? Making sure ferritin, vitamin D, B12 and folate are high in range can reduce symptoms which can be similar to hypoT symptoms too.
Hi, can you get Nutri adrenal or extra from GP..Thanks.
I doubt it. Naturopaths usually recommend it. Check out thyroiduk.org and Amazon.
