Hi very new to this site, my Dr has reduce my thyroxine
Hi do you mean 50mg a day? It sounds as if he is under treating you. I suggest going back to him and asking for the dose that you were on.
50mcg is a huge drop to do all at once. 25 MCG at a time and it should take at least a month to drop 50mcg.
Did he/she think you were over medicated? Did he/she just look at your TSH reading?unfortunately this happens all the time, blood tests are not that accurate, symptoms are more important, but most doctors seem to be ignorant about symptoms and obsessed with blood test results.
Your GP should pay more attention to your clinical symptoms rather than reducing your medication according to your TSH result alone. This is a link for your information. It is an archived site and some links within may not work. It is a scientific explanation of what happens when reducing doses willy-nilly except in patient taking overdoses. Read the first two questions and particular the second which gives explanation re adjusting doses.
