Hi sky00

I had a private iodine 24hr urinanalysis test last Nov. The result was 105ug/24hrs - the "normal" range was 170 to 280. I was surprised to find that I was iodine deficient and now supplement with Cytoplan's kelp tablets. At the time, I was having a lot of problems with IBS and supplementation did help reduce the severity of the symptoms.

star--did you take the tablet before implementing the urine test--that is the iodine loading 24 hr test, other wise that is just the test showing your iodine levels over the last few days--not the complete picture,

Sorry - I misunderstood your original question! I just took the 24hr urine test and started to supplement after I got the results.

may i suggest--that if any test shows you are iodine deficient then kelp or bladderwack or etc etc. are not sufficient to raise your iodine levels--the recommended iodine/iodide levels are 12mg or more depending, not tiny amounts of micro-grams as in kelp etc. --please see dr.david brownstein--he is the authority on iodine importance for the whole body not just for the thyroid, however the urine test that shows the true whole body picture--is the 24 loading iodine urine test, for the most well-being body & mind health the right amount of iodine to take is only assessed with the proper iodine insufficiency test...the iodine replacement to take if sufficiently iodine deficient is IODORAL which is iodine / potassium iodide in well controlled tablet form... hope this helps , i'm here if you need more info, p.s there is a strong connection between breast cancer, prostate cancer etc. as well as hypothyroidism and insufficient iodine
