Hi,

I was on Levo when i had my mammogram,i was fine and are not aware of any complication of having this with thyroid disease.

I had my first one last year (I think) the radiographer said to me it's only a small dose "now" - & she stays with you.

I had 4 xrays (2 boobs 2 armpits). Uncomfortable but fine.

One thing 'tho - I asked for a "Thyroid shield" - she didn't really know but thought it unnecessary anyway (& didn't have one). Maybe I made her aware for the next patient? J :D

Yes I too have read about the shield - also when you go to the Dentist and have an x-ray....

in reply to Marz

Yes - I asked for one at the dentist. They didn't have one and told me I didn't need such a thing. Unsatisfactory. The last woman who did my mammogram still retreated behind her lead shield. One does wonder what all this radiation they so glibly inflict on one is doing to our organs. Especially our poor ol' thyroids. The first thing the dentist does these days is x-ray. The doctors x-ray for almost everything too. Hmmm.

I have been on Eltroxin for 40 years and I have never ever had a mammogram.

. The reason being that I read some years ago that the deep radiation into your breast can trigger off cancer. If I was to suspect that I had a lump etc I would go for thermal imaging but this is not available on the NHS

Hi I have just read this post and am wondering why there is a concern for hypothyroid patients having a mammogram I have been having them regularly most of my adult life am now 77yrs old but did not know that being hypo was an extra concern please can you explain it to me

Thanks

Gigi

I don't know what treatment the original poster is having - it may be radioiodine perhaps?

My concern was to have a mammogram straight after several dental x-rays, chest x-rays, & shoulder x-rays (it was a bad year!)

Here's one perspective on the question (New York Times)

I just had a xray on my neck and wasn.t aware that xrays are a worry for thyroid people, whats the problem with them!

Radiation effects to the thyroid. Risk vs benefit issue.

I had my first one a year ago. No problem except discomfort having my boobs squished.

I have been Hypothyroid for 30yrs and have had numerous mammograms, now 67 yrs old and just fine.

I refuse to have any X-rays with out a thyroid collar now. The radiation is accumulative. Mt thyroid is having a hard enough time as it is without adding to the problem.

I recently had one I too was unaware of any problems or complications with my thyroid

I will be opting out of mammograms completely.

I do check my breasts, with my hands. If I find a lump I might change my mind (and ask for a thyroid shield).

Please don't opt out. Mammograms pick up issues before you can feel a lump. My friend lives abroad so no routine screening. She sought help as soon as she found a lump, but sadly not soon enough for her to get well.

Thank you for your concern but I'm of the opinion that the screening device actually increase ones risk of cancer.

At least kept to a minimum with several years intervening. Can't have thyroid shield with mammograms though unless there is something new.

I follow the Dr Myhill school of thought, and think that maybe a thermogram to monitor changes would be a better option than a mammogram. This link shows that other medics don't agree, but it does outline her stance. casewatch.org/foreign/myhil...

Yes they don't tell you even with a shield the equipment including

Computers TV' s wind turbines and biofeedback machines used by not only private docs but the NHS. Dr Myhill has one.

They take your frequency then feed it back.

Only they don't know how these things work.

I met the invented of the MRI at open day at Nottingham university

in the 1980's. I asked him how safe it was in comparison to X-ray.

He didn't know.

Since then I found that the Mod have told lies and massaged the truth.

Quantum Science is playing with the very essence of life.

They change the name it some how becomes safe.

It's like saying a washing machine is different to a tumble dryer.

Biocom and other devices work on radiochemistry.

You can get the sine wave of any substance and transmitt it over distance. Only it's not safe.

Tesla and others invented various systems to heal cancer.

The government and the mod. Have been playing games.

A little bit of radiation helps the immune system.

They are finding that out in Chanovel.

But the younger you are the more likely you are together cancer.

Not the fact you don't get it when your older.

Since 2002 the government closed Radiocommunications Ageancy.

They told me a component which comes under many names and is in all new technologies. Is known for sick building syndrome.

Helicopters and aircraft contain components of these devices and

They produce what's called talk back and power surges.

Hence the plane or helicopter crashes.

The aircraft industry know.

Along with the electricity industry. Radiocommunications used to measure these devices. For both the Mod and civilan industry.

There is no one doing this.

Anything below 20hz is not measured now days.

The government want the money. The new G 4 transmitters interfere with freeview TV. By boosting the signal the radiation goes up.

The Mod complained to the government about wind turbines interfering with Their RADAR.

The Mod have turned the power up on their RADAR.

Electrosensitivity UK might be good to look at.

The universe as we know it is full of naturally occurring electromagnetic radiation. Most of it is completely harmless. Light is one part of the electromagnetic spectrum. You are not going to spend your life in the dark. Don't waste your time worrying about these so-called 'risks' - you are more likely to shorten your life by worry than by being damaged by minute amounts of man made radiation.

eeng, This is where the scientists have muddled up things.

We are all radioactive the older we are the more we absorb.

However there are various build up discharge cycles.

It is not just radiation.

It's much more complex in as far as dirty electricity is made up of uneven patterns. It's the natural frequency the even frequency's our brains like music. Use the frequency to push away negative energy. The sun pushes bad energy away. While the moon attract negative energy.

Hence the night is the worst period for electrpollution.

It links with why the earth gives up heat in the night.

There are hot spots for attracting energy and dissipating it.
