Spell Checker

Hi all,

I used to have a spell checker on this site, before HU made some changes, but it has gone (haven't had it for ages) and didn't know it was available to others until someone has just mentioned it.

As my spelling is absolutely awful I was wondering if anyone knows how I can re-instate it.

Moggie, I don't know but maybe ask HU. It doesn't really matter about your spelling as it will still be easy to read. I think the person would rather have your input rather than spelling as your knowledge is excellent.

Ahhh thanks Shaws but I hate looking like some sort of illiterate ninny - my spelling was never the best (I have always been a maths girl myself) but since being hypo it is definitely worse.

My spelling has always been good, with the exception of certain words which remain fixed and mis-spelled in my brain. Typos are something else!

Spellcheckers lean towards American usage and I find that annoying.

I really don't care about mis-spelling and typos on fora. Txt spik, I find an abomination.

Which browser do you use? If you use Firefox you could add a dictionary to Firefox itself and it would work on all sites that you might type into. I use this one :

For anyone who comes along in future:

The checking of spelling is almost always a function of the browser - not the site.

As of the most recent releases of Internet Explorer (the last widely used browser not to have the facility), all major browsers on desktop/laptop platforms either have built-in or optional-extra spelling checkers. However, browsers targeted at smartphones and tablets might not have one as standard - or might be switched off.

As a Firefox user, I have always had a spelling checker active on this site - and whatever else has changed, that bit has always worked for me!
