These three links go back as far as 1999. Ignored completely by the Endocrinology in the UK and it appears the world.

This is an extract from the following link and covered a period from 1984 to 1997 and it is a very pertinent point:-

The group of 89 patients, treated elsewhere with T4, but still complaining of symptoms of hypothyroidism, did not really differ from the group of untreated hypothyroid patients as far as symptoms and 24h urine free T3 were concerned

No wonder Dr Lowe was incensed and by those of us who have struggled with ill-health despite being on T4.

As I understand it all treatment is meant to be evidence based. Surely the fact that so many of us suffer symptoms which are the same or similar is evidence that current treatment does not work for everybody. I do not see how we can all be depressed, suffering from diseases unrelated to thyroid etc. when our symptoms are the same.

oh BUT....according to our doctors the VAST majority of people on levo do absolutely fine, 'no problems' (yeah right! they are only getting old and are a little depressed and need to exercise more!) :D

Any links to T3 are going to be ignored as the RCP and BTA tend to follow what the big pharmacy companies want!!
