I'm afraid I've never heard of it. Have you seen this list? thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/treatm...
Could it be something on that list branded differently by a different company? I have no idea, but presumably the contents would be listed on the bottle. I thought melatonin was supposed to help with sleep, but there might be something else listed that causes problems. Jane x

Thanks Janeb, it is a well known supplement (Google? For info). Trouble is jury out re. melatonin and thyroid. Not listed in contents but when one "digs deeper" there is a small amount. Probably not enough to matter - I'm just a nit-picker!!!
I take melatonin quite frequently. I cut up my melatonin tablets so I can't be precise but I normally take about 1mg - over 3000 times the amount in your tablets. I've never had a problem with taking it. I'm currently taking T3 only, not levothyroxine.
Edit : But I've taken levo in the past, and took melatonin then too. I don't think there was a problem taking them both, but I did take them at opposite ends of the day.
Hello.
I am the Marketing Manager of Asphalia UK Ltd.
As you mentioned the amount of Melatonin in Asphalia is very small. But it is a completely natural product. It is made from a combination of grasses which are dried and milled. There are no other ingredients. Therefore, It is completely safe to use. The reason that we do not mention Melatonin on the product is that it would require us to register it as a medicine. We prefer to make it available as an over the counter food supplement, which just happens to have an extremely powerful anti-oxidant. However, if you have any concerns about any natural product you should always seek advice from a qualified health care professional
Hi PaulAsphasia,
Kind of you to take the time and trouble to send advice- appreciated!.
I have nothing against Melatonin, after all it occurs naturally in a lot of foods, not just grasses, and I expect I already ingest some in my normal diet. Don't really have any concerns about Asphalia - as I've said already in this thread, I'm just a nit-picker.(need my wrists slapped)
I'm finding your product helpful, though early days and I'm sure that there's much more to it other than the anti-oxidant properties.
Very grateful to you for your attention...Much thanks
