Have a strange fuzzy, kinda dizzy head the past couple of days. Anyone any ideas if this might be related to the medication and its effects. It is worse today than it has been and not too sure as to the reason. Appreciated any thoughts, many thanks.

Hi catsndogs,

I don't know if I can be of much help to you....I am not doing so well on levo either. I had to have my dose increased very slowly as I would have very bad hyperT effects. I am now up to 100 mg every 2nd day and 125mg every other day.,,I am very dizzy etc and I am going to my GP tomorrow to figure it out. I will let you know if I get any information worth sharing. I do feel, that it is the levo. Hope you feel much better soon :)

Many thanks, I hope you get sorted out, its just horrible not knowing what is going on, and whether it could be an effect of the medication that is experienced by others or not. I don't want to ask my GP as he will say to just stop the Levo since it wasn't him that prescribed it and he's really not at interested in what happens to me. I have a funny feeling that this strange fuzzy head will get worse when I up my dose later......

Thanks for taking the time to reply, and feel better soon.

Best Wishes.

I had a muzzy head on 25ug T4 and was glad to get off it. Followed one week of stomach discomfort on half dose.

Too low a dose to go anywhere near hyper.

I put it down to firstly the brain being switched off by T4 too easily with the low tissue TH being out of balance.

Also, effect of D2 and D1 are unknowns in the equation -even if you convert T4 OK.

All in all, as I'm sensitive to most meds, not an easy horse to ride with the limited management available in NHS for personal adjustments.

ie: Lack of blood testing RT3 mainly- as that would flag up a lot, imo.

Thanks tegz, I'm very sensitive to medication too, and drives the doc nuts! I'm allergic to a lot and other things just don't seem to work with me the way they do with other people - to the extent of me being extremely poorly recently and I discovered it was one of my pills doing it!

My great frustration is that I don't understand things like I used to, and really struggling to get into all this Thyroid stuff, its like learning a new language! lol

Maybe it just my body getting used to the medication, Dr S thought I had been ill for a long, long time, maybe I need to ride a few waves and see what happens. Maybe become clearer when I take the 50mg Levo tab for a few days.

Many thanks for your comments,

Regards.

When I first started taking T4 in 2005 I can remember having a horrid feeling of fuzziness and a head that did not belong. I think for some of us it takes time for the body to adjust. At the time the Endo I was under here in Crete told me to stop the T4 for a week and then re-introduce at a lower dose and build back up slowly. I never could take more than 50mcg with 75 at weekends. It did work and I was better at the second attempt. Am now a T3 girl and doing OK - just a few hiccoughs here and there !

Hope you soon feel better............

Thank you Marz, its sounds very much the same feeling. I now wonder if it might be an idea to continue the 25mg for another while, and not move up today as planned. I will ponder this dilemma over a cuppa, that usually helps! lol

I feel as though the symptom I am mentioning is to do with the medication, maybe just getting into my system, I have only been on it for 3 weeks.

Thanks for your info and I hope your T3 serves you well for a long time to come.

Best Wishes.

I have had this for the past few weeks I am fine when I take 2 x 25mgs Mercury Pharma but when I take a 50mg Actavis (branded Almus) I get dizzy/fuzzy feeling. Asked the pharmacy for 2 x 25mgs Mercury Pharma as they don't do 50mg in Mercury Pharma and couldn't do it so now have to get GP to allow me a new perscription for Mercury Pharma brand only. Went to another pharmacy to see if they would allow me Mercury Pharma brand and said they would but they had no stock and are finding it hard to get stock. If you have any spare 25mgs try two of them to see how you feel. Hope you feel better soon !

It's awful when one's body is sensitive to meds. Dr's seem too quick to say it's not the meds it's YOU. I am sensitive to meds and even the tiniest adjustment hits me. I see you've only been on it 3 weeks. A bit early to be increasing the dose without further blood tests on TSH freeT4 andT3. Why don't you wait and book another blood test in 3 weeks as it takes about 6 weeks to stabilize in your system. What were your results which led to the Dr prescribing Levo??xx

Good approach, 130!

I should have gone up in dose after 2 months of T4 but I didn't want to stay on it. I do wonder if I'd stuck at it [upped] I would have crossed the threshold dose and felt better, as a lot advise here.

I just wanted off of it -but know it won't help me get a referral to an endo [probably], as they like to see a good trial of T4. [We know why- cheap, approved, slow starter etc]

If you don't 'mix with it' you kinda feel it, somewhere!

Always a devils' choice, this.

Thanks everyone for your replies, I haven't increased the dose as was supposed to but just stuck to the 25mg for now. A little disappointed as I wanted to press on with being so unwell for so long, but I need to be patient (and sensible) I suppose.

And to 130396, I have to get my bloods done in around another 3 weeks anyway so that's a good thing! :) I was diagnosed on symptoms, not on my blood results, which according to the GP are all 'normal'. Other values within the bloods taken are abnormal, and he also said they were normal, until I started asking for a print off and could see for myself that things are not right. I just wonder now how many years has the lying been going on.....

Thank you all most kindly for reply and your input, I am just desperate for this treatment to work and be well again.

Best wishes to all.

I had the same when I was had an increase every time fuzzy headed blurred vision and dizzyness. You could cut the tablet in half for a few weeks and introduce it gradually or take 25 for two days and the 50 for 1 and slowly add it in when the dizzyness goes, mine lasted for about 1 week and a bit but after the first time I learnt to adjust it in over a few weeks.

I have since realised I am better on on a mix of t3 and t4 and I cant take more then 75 every other day.
