A tsh of 4 and an ok ish free t4 shows your thyroid is producing the hormones, but is having to be pushed hard to do it...... Most countries in the world would treat with a tsh of over 2.5 but the uk has a very odd attitude and you can be left to get vey ill before they deign to treat you. Insist on an antibody test and if you have them, there is no reason not to treat you.

Thanks for replying...yes I think it a bit high as Im having symtoms....I will ask for an antibody test....I have to get a retest of Prolactin so I will ask for it too. Yes most Uk docs ranges are too high when someone is showing symtoms something at the top of the range needs to be looked into. I will be seeing my doc again this week coming.

Hi Always ask for a print out with results + ranges, keep. Ranges vary different Labs. Often a doc`s OK is not ours! Also try and get the Free T3 results as equally important.

Best wishes,

Jackie

I would say you'd benefit from trying thyroxine. Good luck.

Great idea....I have an electronic thermometer.....I should start measuring it in the morning for a few days. I am always ridiculously cold....my fiance thinks its odd as he is fine temp wise. thanks

Just saw the bottom post. Cold can be Diabetes, similar symptoms, to start with autoimmune and hormonal. Common with thyroid disease, I would have a blood test for that, to be sure.Sometimes GP`s will agree to a low dose trial of treatment.

Hi If asking for a test ask for the better one HB A1c Also a vit D ( hormonal ) would be a good idea.Best wishes,

For most accurate results of your temp, you should take it when you wake up and before you get out of bed.
