Hi,
Dr. Myhill recommends Polyzyme Forte by Biocare. You might find the information on this page of her website useful too.

I used to use Univase Forte from Rocky Fork formula, but they seem really hard to get lately, so I've been using Megazyme from thevitaminservice.com
Lots of info on that link, thanks Jane. I've tried Polyzyme Forte in the past but they didn't seem all that effective for some reason? Angel, I looked at the Univase, which looks good, but I can't seem to find a price or how to buy it?
Hi (It can be the Pancreas , autoimmune, in which case you need the specific enzymes for that. Creon,( 20 mins before any food)creon is the replacement enzyme. but I do not think it is probably suitable for you. I am sure there are alternatives. However, to find if it is the pancreas, you need a very speicfic simple ,stool test, called faecal Elastine, comes back idiot proof. That is the only way to tell. Absorption problems can be lots of things although that is the most common, it can often be Caeliac disease too. It is rally important to find exactly where the problem lies..There is a blood test for caeliac but often negative, the the only way to be sure is to go on a Gluten free diet for months ,to see if it is the answer.Often absorption does improve on the correct thyroid treatment.
Best wishes,
Jackie
I have actually been gluten free for about nine months now and I'm sure I will have been glutened in that time, but if I have I'm never aware of it so doubt very much that I'm coeliac. That said, my digestion has been a lot better lately so I'm staying GF. I'm eating more carbs than I have done for a while and seem to be constantly bloating up at the moment which isn't good and I'm wondering if it's the Levo as I have only been on it for a month?
Hi No good having a Caeliac test anyway ,unless on Gluten well before hand. The bloating may be the thyroid. It takes a long while to get stable, often worse before better. Lots of blood tests and rises in meds each time until feel better and bloods right, T4 top third of range and FT3 near the top, usually.

Yes, Jackie I get the feeling it's an uphill struggle
Hi Do not despair, you will get there and be OK ,it just takes ages and good doctors. So, if not happy with treatment find a really good Endo, and then ask for a referral.
Best wishes,
Jackie
Hi, I use nutrigest, by nutri advanced. They seem pretty good, and contain stomach acid as well as enzymes. I've tried a couple of other brands such as cytoplan, which have been quite bloating. But I think it's just a question of what's right for you, everyone has slightly different needs.
I have heard that its not good to take enzymes long term as. It makes your body's own production lazy, has anyone else heard this? I don't think I could function without them for now.

I don't know if this is a link of some general info re stomach problems will be helpful.
Thanks Shaws but my problem is low, rather than excess stomach acid. My hubby has acid reflux though so I shall certainly be pointing it out to him
