Hi I am trying to conceive and the doctors has informed me that I am over medicated for my underactive thyroid can this cause me problem
Hi Ter1
It would be useful to see your actual blood test results on which he based this. Has he reduced your medication on this basis?
It is important that your medication is right is you are trying to conceive, because both over-and under-medication can make it more difficult. How do you feel?
If you can put the actual blood test results with the ranges, and also say how you feel, you will find that you can get better support and advice. Ablove all, don't get too anxious about this because the most important thing is that you are being medicated, and when you do conceive you will be monitored to make sure your levels are optimal. Do please come back with thise figures so that a more accureat response can be given to help you.

Hi thank you for your replies. Serum tsh level (xaelv) 0.08 miu/l(0.3 - 5.5) outside reference range. Serum free t4 level (xaerr) 21.9 pmol/l (12.0 - 22.0)
Serum free triiodothyronine level (xaerq) 5.1(3.1 - 6.8) . I have not been feeling to bad to be honest . I am only just learning about this condition .
I am no physician, but those results don't look overactive to me. Your TSH is suppressed, but that can be quite normal. Your T4 and T3 are in range. Do you have hyper symptoms? That would be an indicator of too much thyroxine. If you just feel 'good', then that may mean you dose is correct. I always have suppressed TSH and my endocrinologist is happy with this as long as my T4 and T3 are in range (he'd probably be OK with T4 slightly over range too).
Have you had other tests for infertility? I went through the whole thing to find out I had raging endometriosis. An operation later, some thyroxine and a baby came along finally. There are many reasons for not conceiving and thyroid is only one of them.
I know what its like and I do sympathise, and I wish you all the best.
Do you know what your tsh levels at?
yes and if you do get pregnant you have more risk of miscarriage. Sorry.
