Hello,

Stemitil is on this list: thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/treatm...

Dizziness/balance problems can be caused by an underactive thyroid. Which tests have you had done? Is it just the TSH?

When you see your doctor ask him to do the tests mentioned on this page. We will then have a clearer picture and may be able to help you more: thyroiduk.org.uk/tuk/diagno...

I have Stemetil for dizziness/vertigo although they are mainly used for nausea. I prefer Stugeron ( travel pills) as I find they work better.

My dizziness/vertigo is caused by both overmedication and Vit D deficiency, since reducing my dose of Levo and supplementing Vit D ( I had severe deficiency) all signs of it have gone.

To be honest if you have dizziness anything like I had you wouldn't worry about effects on Levo/thyroid, I would have taken anything just to stop it so I could function normally.

Thank you too hypohen. See reply below.

I would say you really need full thyroid function tests to be sure of what's going on in that department, not just the TSH.

If your thyroid results are in fact "normal", perhaps the dizziness and balance problems are caused by something else? As usual, B12 deficiency springs to my mind:

pernicious-anaemia-society....

As hypohen says, the dizziness drug will alleviate the symptom but really you need to be investigating the cause as well.

Thank you. I have had the dizziness on and off for a long time, but all doc does is say it's to do with the inner ear and prescribes nasal spray. Never realised it could be connected with u/a thyroid. Will have a lot of questions when I go to see him next week.
