I read some disturbing stats about the number of people diagnosed with cancer after needle biopsies as compared to those that haven't had them, suggesting that FNA may be the cause of some cancers. It is said that the sac that surrounds a cancer can be disrupted by the needle and the cells dragged out as the needle is removed (called seeding). I have numerous large nodules around my thyroid, goiter and long standing symptoms to go with my Hashimotos diagnosis. Does anyone have any thoughts about when a needle biopsy should be done or if at all??? as some Dr.'s believe waiting to see other signs of cancer is better than a needle biopsy.
