Lacto free dairy has made a huge difference.
For flare ups I have ginger tea, which helps loads.
Exercise helps big time.
Homeopathic remedies helped me. They were prescribed by a qualified practitioner.
When I say "helped me", it has been a slow and subtle improvement over about 4 years. But when I look back to the way I used to be in 2020 and 2021, I am much better now.
It didn't cure my IBS, as I still have to be a bit careful with foods, and sometimes still get "iffy" days with symptoms, though those symptoms are generally much milder and pass quicker. I can eat a wider range of foods, though there are still some I can't handle well. But generally I have a lot of quality of life back, compared to those early days.
That treatment has helped me to the point where I have stopped the treatments, after a pretty good summer, just as an experiment at this stage, to see how I do on my own without them. But I can go back to my practitioner any time I feel I need to.
I have a "first aid" herbal tincture which helps if I get too-loose bowel movements suddenly one morning. It is Tormentil tincture. I take one dose immediately after the toilet, and another before dinner later, and usually that helps to straighten me out the next morning so I have a more healthy bowel movement and feel brighter generally. The tincture tastes quite nice I think.
But I feel my IBS is milder (now anyway) than many other peoples' experiences.
Knowing my body after 35 years living with IBS. Cutting down or even out, refined sugar, eating low carb diet. Walking regularly really helps with bloating and also constipation and for me my saviour, guided meditation 🧘♂️ 🙏

How long was it before you went from D to C and have you any idea what triggered it ?
In my 40s I used to have flare ups of D due to work stress. As I got older, the D stopped and my IBS became dominantly pain based, particulary overnight and this was triggered by many foods. However chronic C came about after treatments for SIBO (which I didn't have) by Nutritional Therapists who set about destroying my microbiome.
Check out Slippery Elm. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is particularly helpful for people with IBS -D&C. I have BAM and take one capsule before my evening meal with loperamide (on Rx) as & when needed. Out of all the things I’ve tried, this has helped me the most.
one word Symprove, not a cure but helpful
