Twitching Muscles
I got random muscle twitches at the start of my IBS a few years ago, But mine would be anywhere, and often in my face rather than legs.
Could what you get be "restless legs syndrome"? (I think that's more likely to happen when lying down in bed or trying to sleep, and it's apparently a constant feeling of needing to move the legs.)
But muscle twitches and cramps too (I don't mean belly pains, I mean muscle cramp in limbs) can be caused by Magnesium deficiency. That could make sense with IBS, as often our diets are restricted and some people can't eat many magnesium containing foods.
If you have IBS C, magnesium can help that a lot, even just for the constipation. If you have IBS D, Magnesium glycinate is best as the other forms of magnesium can be a bit laxative, but the glycinate one isn't.
I noticed my muscle twitches were happening when my IBS D was at its worst, early on, and that was when my diet was really very restricted as most healthy foods gave me flare ups.
So they stopped happening when I could widen my diet choices a bit more generally.
IBS is one of many symptoms of fibromyalgia. So is restless legs syndrome. Just a thought.
Restless legs are helped by regular walking or other exercise, but I find it occurs along with frequent trips to pee, just 1 night at a time, so it would seem that it is linked to food as well. I will need to keep a food diary, yet again.
