Severe bloating with fibromyalgia, i look pregnant!!

Hey everybody.

I have looked in so many places and cant find the answer so, is severe bloating part of fibromyalgia, i have been diagnosed with IBS ling before my fibromyalgia diagnosis but bloating like i bloat now has never happened. Has anybody else suffered from extreme bloating with fibromyalgia regardless of IBS. This bloating makes me feel disgusting!!

I appreciate any opinions or advice.

Bloating is a common symptom of IBS and unfortunately IBS is a common problem with fibromyalgia. Sorry not much help just a sad statistic.

yes, I have fibro and had a severe Ibs flare not too long ago. The bloating and distention was the worst part. I seemed to clear that all up with no garlic/ onions, and a SIBO antibiotic treatment, but still have bloating all the time. I find if I do not have caffeine in my coffee or tea or soda, the bloating is minimum compared to when I do. I hope this helps!

YES FIBROMYALGIA CAUSED BLOATING, SWOLLEN ANKLES, LEGS AND MADE ME FEEL PREGNANT AS WELL. SO DOES ANYTHING WITH MACROGEL IN IT. MOST BUT NOT ALL GUT REMEDIES WORK. I FIND MEAT, FISH, WHITE BREAD AND CAKES MADE WITH WHITE FLOUR ARE PROBLEMATIC. I EAT LOTS OF VEG, FRUIT, NUTS, SEEDS, PEA PASTA, ONLY WHOLEMEAL BREAD, EGGS, WHOLEMEAL RICE AND SPAGHETTI. VERY LITTLE MEAT AND FISH. YOU COULD TRY KEEPING A DIARY OF WHAT YOU EAT AND THEN YOU MIGHT SPOT WHAT IS UPSETTING YOU. WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT. GOOD LUCK.

I can’t give you a definitive answer, but I am now 77 and have suffered with IBS since my mid-teens - although it wasn’t called that then. I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia maybe 10 years ago and the IBS is causing severe problems but I can’t say whether or not there’s a connection. As you say of yourself, I look several months, if not full-term (!) pregnant, which at my age is simply ridiculous!
