Hello I would be ever so grateful if anyone could let me know if the following are IBS symptoms. The middle of my back feels like I have been repeatedly elbowed and it hurts all down my spine into my lower back. I also have really tight hips and a bad pain under my right rib I would say maybe the bend on my transverse colon, many thanks in advance.

Well IBS can cause all sorts of discomforts, pains and aches in abdo region and even back. Anywhere from chest to groin!

I get back pain too but not sure in my case if there's any connection with IBS or not. I got the back problem many years before IBS. But it definitely aches more in a flare up. I think that's because....I don't sleep well in a flare, energy takes a dip and a flare is exhausting and generally debilitating.

My back pain is because of a pelvic misalignment. It's in the lower back around the sacro iliac joint.

Be careful; with mid back pain that it's not connected with kidneys (?)

Also there's a thing called 'referred pain' and that often happens. If I get trapped wind for example, I can sometimes even feel it in my upper legs! Or tummy pain seems to go around the back and set that off too.

Yes back pain can often happen with IBS. But if you're not sure get the doc. to check (if you can get one!) Any red flags like blood in urine, fever etc, get to A&E

Hello thanks for your reply I am sorry to hear of your own struggles I can not even imagine how hard it must be for you at times.it’s been an absolute nightmare for me since May it really is a fight for me every day I would say more of trying to get medical professionals to help me,there must be so many people in the same situation and I would imagine so many people who have gone through the same.I have thought about kidneys and I am going to mention this to GP I have had so many tests done I have lost track of what has been done.I really appreciate your reply

Might want to go back just with IBS in mind. A diagnosis of IBS is often when they've eliminated everything else.
