I have had suspected IBS symptoms for about 9 months now. Tried all the peppermint tea and watching my diet, but no avail. Doctor suggested doing more bloods and stool sample, however the nurse gave me the qFIT test instead of the other one (for crohns/colitis). It's come back with a score of 112 which is apparently high so I've recently (like yesterday) been referred to a gastroenterology specialist, my referral letter states the urgency as Red Flag.
I've got an appointment, but in the meantime my head is working overtime. What does a Red flag really mean? Has anyone else been in this position, is it all precautionary language or should I actually be concerned?

Hi Shelnb, I shouldn't worry too much about this. Red flag just means blood has been found and they need to do some more tests to make sure everything is okay. Or that is my interpretation of it.
If you are really worried you could join the one of the IBD groups on here and ask them. I believe there are two, "Crohn's and Colitis Support" and "Bowel Disease Support".
