Recovery
Hi WenbenEveryone is different but I am underweight so ate something light later the same day then started eating properly the next day. Wish you well with the colonoscopy
Thank you..... family were intending coming to stay for the weekend next day and can't decide whether to cancel them. I am 76.
The tea and biscuits they give you afterwards will be the best you've ever had, and then you can go right to KFC.
Thankyou
The previous 24h on moviprep or whatever and no solids is the hard bit, once you make it there you’re in good hands and actually it’s an interesting show with audience participation! They add 20 minutes for the procedure and 30 mins recovery and my wife got message to wait an hour. Oops. Nearer three in the end.
I had mine at a private hospital as NHS overspill. I had the most delicious Caesar salad 10 minutes after the procedure. I was ravenous. I continued to eat normally when I got home. The fentanyl I was given did have a slight lingering effect, I was a bit tipsy for a few hours. Next day, I just rested. I think I would postpone a family visit.
They will give you some tea and biscuits after the procedure. Eat something light that evening, and keep up your fluids due to having down the bowel prep. You can eat normally the day after but if your tummy is sensitive anyway, give it another day of eating light meals x
I was back to normal that day
Hello WenbenI have had many of these..
Everyone is different
Just go easy!
Keep up your fluids/energy drinks
Remember your colon has been fully emptied
Its quite a shock for it
I just eat & drink gradually for a few days as i get quite gassy
Good Luck
You may feel uncomfortable for a few days but no problem eating after the Colonoscopy is done. They often give you something to eat before you go home
