Can anyone relate to these symptoms

LittleMissWorry1981 profile image

I have been suffering for about 20 years with IBS. I've had test after test to rule out anything else. It never used to be too bad but the last year or so its getting worse.

Bloating every day, as soon as I wake up, I actually look pregnant. I also have zero appetite where as I used to eat lots. My anxiety level is extremely high also, i don't know what I am anxious about.

Can anyone relate to all this?

Thank you for reading

Me too! I got off any carbonated beverage. That helped. I did have colon diverticulitis I think the dr said. Not that unusual really. Some people like us have horrendous pain it seems. Don’t eat after 5 or so! I lost 20 lbs In the past year and a half. I weigh 125 now and it’s not that heathy. All I can eat sometimes are crackers.

The dr gave me Linzess. I went from IBS-mixed to IBS-D. Not helpful!!

Hi, Do you think it could be related in anyway to COVID. Could you have had COVID or perhaps the general unrest with COVID and all the restrictions could have made a difference maybe. Mine seems to have got worse over this period. I'm not sure if I had it or not, if I did have it, it was only mild but my husband thought he might have had it and if he did, it would be likely that I picked it up too, if only mildly. But I guess that could mean that it could impact the IBS symptoms. Something has changed anyway and I have had IBS for 35 years and I don't think it has ever been like this, it is more unpredictable!

I agree with Maureen I had COVID-19 last November really bad and since January my IBS D has been really bad I've suffered with ibs for over 28years and it has never been as bad as this last year I've had loads of test but everything keeps coming back normal seen the gastroenterologist and he has giving me medication for bile acid as said the bile acids could be leaking back into my stomach and causing the diarrhoea but upto now no improvement

Also there is gathering evidence that hotter weather in the summers causes changes in the guts seretonin levels. A lot of people have stressed stomachs in heatwaves. Read that from an actual gastro report on increasing IBS with hot weather.

Do a blood test just in case. Get doc to do a liver check up.

I also have bloating every day.I also have loads of wind and struggle with constipation. Things have definitely got worse over the past year.

Anxiety and depression too.

I've had a colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy with nothing untoward

showing.

Fed up with it now as it impacts my life so much.

Hi that is exactly the same as me Harrison. All tests clear and I struggle with constipation and wind. Always awake with pains by 5.00 ….if I go in the morning the day is not too bad but it is affecting my life more and more. Tried different laxatives wish I had something that really helped.

Dear Miss, let me say, your not alone with bloating, its very uncomfortable, and irritating, because it also, well for me a guy (feminine) kept pressing on my bladder which at times makes me want to wee more than usual. Bloating makes you fuller, so you go off your food. My wife has often said I'm going to make a fortune having a baby😁..... Some relaxation therapies can help. There is one for tenses tummy muscles, a cognitive therapy buy best done my psychologist. But I had breathing exersise that are based on breathing from the tummy not shallow from the top. Yes I have suffered serious anxiety and general panic disorder for nearly 45 years, I used to take lorazapam for many years, as it was also a very good antispasmodic, which kept My IBS under control for 3 months at a time. Since losing it and having to change to Diazapam because of doctors pressures, I don't manage my IBS virtually at all now. Try new diets, keep away from baked beans, broad beans, cabbage couliflower and the likes. Wishing you well, and try limit your anxiety as this will alawsy keep a nervy stomach that can't settle down. Best of luck👍

I just found my way back here to the page. I’ve settled down to

a more “manageable” a case.

I didn’t even consider COVID…..That is something to think about. I either don’t “go” and then end up (feels like I’ve strained every muscle in my being! I’m trying stool softeners but you don’t know “when” it’s going to work!
