H Pylori

So, paid a visit to the doctor, had a load of blood tests including one for H Pylori. Turns out I am positive.

Did you know that 40% of the population is affected by H Pylori but only 10 % exhibit symptoms? Which are severe and mimic other symptoms.

It's a simple blood test for peace of mind.

The medications are two Antibiotics Amoxicillin, Metronidazole and Clarithromycin and Rabaprazole, taking 12 tablets a day for 14 days. Horrid but better than this very common, painful bacterial infection.

Please wash your hand's people after you have been for a number 2 especially if you are handling food!!

Also 20 percent of people need another round of 2nd line treatment. It’s quite a clever bug. Don’t expect a miracle cure after your antibiotics. It will normally take at least 6 months for your symptoms to go due to the damage to the stomach lining. You will need a stool or breath test after a couple of months to show your clear. This can’t be a blood test as it will still show positive for antibodies.

Thank you, I don't want to hear this information even though it is good to know.

Agreed, haha I had just woken up in my part of the world.

I am grateful to you for your information, but I wish you were wrong. I know you are not wrong.

We share our experiences eh! I’m glad you brought the subject up as most people suffer needlessly. Andy 😉 in the Uk

I had constipation not diarrhoea, tiredness, I was sleeping during the day every day and waking up feeling like I slept on a bed of nails, I had terrible fogs, some days, just was not with it at all. . I wasn't feverish. I would start the day feeling fine, have a small breakfast and be fine until lunch, even if I ate a very small amount the bloating would start, you just swell up, when it got too bad and the pain felt like I was going to rip in two, I would bring up everything in my stomach including breakfast, so nothing digests. Despite this, you cannot lose weight. Very black stools sometimes, otherwise I was constantly taking opening meds for relief and something for dyspepsia. And then for no reason, it would stop and I would have a period of peace, until the next time. Exercise brings it on, last spring had a wonderful 4mile walk, barely made it home and was sick for a solid week after. My daughter who has not had her bloods yet got impossible heartburn instead of vomiting. I had the pain in my side like a stitch that is described with IBS and a pocket of wind under my left rib cage that made it difficult to breathe. IBS medication, namely Buscopan helped, A LOT until I was given this diagnosis.

Hi Notsettled,

Omg, I just gave my poo sample in for this test on Tuesday. I'm struggling with the pain, eating, not eating, bile reflux, sweating etc and going to hospital with this. Thanks for providing this good information. I hope it works out for you. 😍
