Has any one tried these liquid meal replacements to increase weight? When I have a flare up I don't want (or dare) to eat much and I really need to replace lost weight. They are not cheap but I wonder if they are worth while

Where I live you can get them on prescription and only have to pay prescription charge. It might be worthwhile checking if it's the same in your area. They are a godsend when you are unable to eat, the one I use is 300 calories per 150ml so if you are not eating anything you would need to use at least 5 a day.
Thanks.I will check with my surgery. I see them as a temporary measure, but I am glad someone else can use them and they work.
H Dorothy, I am in Melb Australia. I also lose weight etc. in a flare etc. I started taking Sustagen a whey powder based drink with lots of calories, vitamins etc. last year I think available around the world). It is more of a supplement to your diet Not a replacement. I was on it for about 5 months and I became intolerant to the whey powder, I put on 5kg. I felt so happy. Short lived though. I lost all the weight through the biggest flare ever. I wasted so much money. If you cannot tolerate any of the ingredients it may not suit you. I thought I was ok with whey (dairy) but no longer.
I have been taking plant based protein now for about 3 weeks (Brown Rice protein powder) which is available in my health food store very cheap! I have not seen a rise in my weight as yet but I have so much more energy and look better. I am sure, I will, in time put the weight on. It is not as rich as the Sustagen but it is about an 1/8th of the price. I follow the FOD map diet. Good luck in your decision. Just watch ingredients. Keep as natural as possible also.
Glad to know there are others out there experimenting.I looked into Sustagen but could only find chocolate flavour and chocolate is a no no! I do eat a lot of rice already but will continue looking and thanks for the response.
Would be interested to know how you go. I think I am into another flare, been feeling a bit squeamish etc for the last few days. Today full on pain. Started eliminating things and the only thing that I am still taking that is reasonably new is the the rice protein powder. Hate it to be that. but will go off it for a few days and see how I go. When you feel good its fantastic, when you get pain and have to withdraw you feel so down. When will it ever end!
