Child PI-IBS?

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone has experience with their child getting post-infectious IBS. When my son was 18 months old, he caught a bug of some sort. He went between throwing up and having diarrhea off and on for seven weeks. He'd have a few good days, and then a bout of vomiting and/or diarrhea, and the cycle continued. We ended up cutting dairy completely and putting him on a probiotic and it eventually just kind of disappeared. We had his stool tested for norovirus but it came back negative so the doctor said that at that point it was still the body shedding the virus. Fast forward to now, he's caught another nasty tummy bug (he's 3.5 now) and we're on day 4 of it. Vomiting, diarrhea, feeling better, vomiting again. It's probably too early to tell if it's going to be like last time or not, but this mama is very anxious, exhausted, and worried. Any experience, advice, etc?

Hi, this brought back memories of my son when he was young (he's 28 now!). He used to have times every now and again when he would have diarrhoea (not vomiting) but we found stopping the milk, which he drank quite a lot of, for a few days or weeks on occasions usually did the trick. We would try him on a little milk and increase the amount depending on the reaction he had when it was reintroduced. He seemed to grow out of it as he got older.
