I just asked about this a few days ago but I called it bubbling. I have had it for about 2 weeks now for the first time after having had IBS for 30 years. It is not painful nor does it make a noise. It feels like something moving like when pregnant. How long have you had it?

That sounds like a Hiatus hernia

I do have a haitus hernia. However as I messaged later the feeling is on my left rib cage. Does that still apply?

Hi , this sounds like me !! I also have a hiatus hernia . Which I didn’t even know I had till I had a ct for something else . Mine is on the left under my rib . Like a bubbling sometimes & sometimes a dull pain like a stab . It doesn’t stay long & can come & go for days then nothing for months . I try not to worry about it or look to much into it as it seems to rectify itself . So maybe it’s to do with the hernia ? Would be interested in your symptoms. Thanks

yes it is on my left rib and feels like something moving. I don't have any pain or noise with it but I have had it for 3 weeks now, more pronounced when sitting down. I am burping more too. Have you asked a dr about it at all?

Yes I did & she said it could be the hernia as it sits that side near the stomach & can be pressing on it . She didn’t seem very concerned unless I start to have it constantly or in a lot of pain . I’m now on omeprazole for it & only take it if it starts to irritate . This seems to settle it . A bit like you it’s more uncomfy than anything.

Thanks for that It's so helpful to hear from someone else who has it as one is never sure when to contact a dr especially during Covid. I am already on pantoprazole which is like omeprazole and this bubbling doesn't seem to be going away. I have made a tel appt to talk to my GP in 10 days time so hopefully he will help. What with IBS I always seem to be getting strange symptoms!!

Hopefully he will , let me know what he thinks I would be interested to see if he says the same .

Yes indeed. What dose of omeprazole do you take? I wonder if he will raise the dose of my pantoprazole since I only take 20mg. Thank you do much for your help

Hi I talked to my dr on Friday and he said I should try 40mg pantoprazole to see if that helps. He thought it could be a muscle twitching aggravated by my stomach being a bit upset as i had been getting more burping. I have to get back to him if it doesn't work. So far it hasn't really helped so I am wondering if it is just a muscle twitching.

Hi , thanks so much for replying when you had an answer . That actually makes sense a lot !! As we’ve both described it as a twitch & it comes & goes . At least the doc doesn’t think it’s anything sinister . I also find I have more wind when it’s twitching . I also find if I’ve eaten something a little maybe rich for me now it does the same . Stick with the extra dose & see how it is in a couple of weeks . Hopefully is the answer for you . Take care & thank you again for helping me 🙏🏻

I have the same bubbling feeling under my left rib too!! I thought it was heart palpitations at some point. What is hiatus hernia and should I be worried?

A haitus hernia is when the stomach opening goes up through the diaphragm at times often causing indigestion and acid reflux. However we are not 100% sure that this is the cause and you must not take this as a diagnosis for your problems which could be something else.

Its right rib casge pulsing, from one week

Hi...I have exactly the same gentle pulsing spasms. It comes and goes. Sometimes lasts for days, and nights. It is not painful pulsing, and it's not related to heart beats. With me its position on my right hand side may be associated with a twelve year long chronic pain on my right flank just under the right edge of my rib cage. The doctors have not been able to identify its source despite many many tests, scans and surgical procedures to solve it. The last physician called it hepatic flexure syndrome, which means a form of IBS focussed on the hepatic flexure of the large intestine. Rome 4 research papers may help you. Search for them. They are published by gastroenterologists who study IBS problems. There are no cures available at this time. No dietary changes affect it for better or for worse, although peppermint tea helps a little. So long as I avoid constipation I can usually manage the pain, but it does become almost unbearable at times. The pulsing is not painful, just strange and unexplainable, except it may be peristalsis related. What do you think your problem is? Does my reply make sense to you?

Any idea if an ulcer could cause such pulsing thumpy sensations?

Thank you

Google h pylori

I googled h pylori but it didn't say anything about the bubbling sensations I am getting.

I had it for over a year with gas, wind, bloating and bubbles like pockets of gas in my guts.

I have exactly the same feeling!

Ive had acid reflux / IBS problems since Dec 19, had basically every test going apart from colonoscopy. All docs just say unsure and not too worry just live with it sort of thing.

I have lots of wind at times so Im hoping it's just wind accumulating in the guts, but it is pretty constant at times and varies depending if I'm sat down, stood up etc.

It's not a pain as such , like a burning strange sensationthat comes & goes.

I've also tried all sorts of other things like Aloe Vera Juice, apple cider vinegar etc etc & not much shifts it. Currently on Omeprazole bit may switch bk to Lansoprazole soon as not tried that for over a year.

Have you found anything that helps yourself?
